Big Bang Zhang vs Bronze Bomber Wilder Heavyweight Bonanza

Saudi’s are Rolling Big these days in the Heavyweight Division after their recent Epic staging of All Everything Legend Oleksandr Usyk beating the Ding Dongs out of Blubbered up Tyson Fury. Now the Saudis are staging the Monstrous Heavyweight “Big Bang” Zhilei Zhang, 26-2-1, 21 KO manning up against “Bronze Bomber” Deontay Wilder, 43-3-1, 42 KO who’s been heavily beat up of late, looking at perhaps his last relevant fight in boxing. 

The Supporting Cast consists of the solid Boxrec # 8 Heavyweight and IBF #1 contender Filip Hrgovic, 17-0, 14 KO going up against Boxrec # 6 Daniel Dubois, 20-2, 19 KO. Don’t ask me why Dubois has a higher ranking than Filip in spite of being Knocked Out twice, nor why Zhang seems to be the Headliner with Wilder in spite of both having compiled 5 recent losses with 2 draws between them. This is Heavyweight Boxing where the rules of logic too often fly out the window.

Another interesting development in Boxing is the ongoing bromance of promotional rivals Queensberry and Matchroom, aka Frank Warren and Eddie Hearns who are returning to the scene of their last Beat’em Up of Tyson Fury by Oleksandr Usyk.

Big Bang Zhang is Boxrec ranked #9 whilst the Bomber Wilder is currently Boxrec #22, normally a mismatch that entirely favors Zhang, however Zhang is 41 years of age with Wilder being 38, a collective of 79 years, normally ancient in most sports, especially given Wilder has notched 174 rounds of boxing where he normally takes a lot of punches every round. Zhang has been 105 rounds and taken punches from mostly lighter opposition, so that may be a significant advantage that swings the fight in his favor. He’s also a heavy boned physical specimen who was 291 lbs in his last fight and 287 in the fight before that, ie much bigger than the Fury who man handled Wilder in between beating him up.

So, while I favor Zhang, it could be the first one to land a Big Bomb on the other that ends the fight so roll them dice, make yer pick, and enjoy…
